When Sassi Holford offered to design a friend’s wedding dress 30 years ago, she had no idea that it would be such a defining moment in her life. Just 17 years old, the dress was a success and Sassi started receiving requests from other brides, eager for her to design their gowns as well.

Fast forward 30 years and Sassi is one of Britain’s top designers with a flourishing business, numerous internationally acclaimed collections and a Royal Wedding under her belt.

With the new 2013 collections due to be launched later this month at White Gallery, London, I spoke to the renowned designer about her amazing career to date and what the future holds for Sassi Holford.

From the perfectly planned proposal through to the grand ceremony and lavish reception, Caroline and David’s wedding could have been taken straight from a fairytale!

With elegant styling and unique personal touches, Kirsty and Simon’s wedding in the grounds of the medieval Notley Abbey in Buckinghamshire was truly a day to remember. Taking advantage of the unexpected sunshine, the couple chose a romantic outdoor ceremony, beautifully photographed by the talented Sarah Critchlow, a valued member of our Premier Portfolio.

Following a beautiful church ceremony, Petra and Tom chose the magnificent Hedsor House to celebrate with their international guests. With influences from Petra’s native Finland combined with truly English touches for Harlequins rugby player Tom, they created a pretty, romantic feel for their wedding and their sense of fun shone throughout. Thank you to the fabulous Pippa Mackenzie, a valued member of our Premier Portfolio, for sharing these wonderful images with us.

Following a romantic proposal in the British Virgin Islands, Sarah and Matt chose the picturesque waterside setting of Queen's Eyot island, Bray to celebrate their wedding day. Keeping the waterside theme of their engagement, Sarah and Matt’s elegant celebration had heaps of classic British charm - complete with a bright red London bus and vintage Rolls Royce!

Sarah looked every inch an English rose in her lace covered Augusta Jones gown, finished off with pearl accessories and a beautiful posy of English garden roses.

Arley Hall has to be one of my favourite Cheshire wedding venues, set in the heart of the lush, Cheshire countryside. As a local myself, I have spent many sunny afternoons enjoying the delights of the historic Arley estate, the home of the charming Lord Ashbrook. It is of no wonder that Emma and Tom fell in love with it’s splendour.

Their classic champagne and gold colour palette was a perfect selection to balance the rich tones of the stately home for a summer wedding, together with fresh and contemporary floral styling.

I love the cosy intimacy of winter weddings, log fires, rich colour palettes and being surrounded by the warmth of family and friends. Gavin and Stephanie were joined by family and friends from both sides of the Atlantic at the beautifully historic Elvetham - a perfect venue for a cosy winter wedding. Following on from a romantic proposal in Venice, it is no surprise that Gavin and Stephanie returned to Italy for an idyllic honeymoon in Rome.

Paris, Summer 1911: Jeanne Lanvin created the first wedding gown for her Parisian house of couture.

One hundred years have passed and the house of Lanvin has continued to create the Blanche collection. The latest 'spirited bride' designs by Alber Elbaz reveals grace and elegance for Summer 2011.

I came across a beautiful statement wedding cake featured on Martha Stewart Weddings that so reminded me of a past trip to The Designer Wedding Show where I met the amazingly talented Javier and Tony from By Appointment only design. As you would expect their stand was stunningly styled and they featured the iconic, adorably stacked packages of scrumptiousness that is Laduree macaroons. A fortuitous meeting for me as Virginie from Laduree invited me to tea with her at Laduree, Harrods in London. Heavenly macaroons of Rose and Pistachio, the taste of summer itself!
